Affiliate Review Site Resources

Here are some basic resources for getting you started online and specifically for building affiliate review sites. I do get a commission for some of these, but these are recommendations based on my experience.

Domain names : You need a domain to start. I prefer to use MyDomain.

Web site hosting : One of the best is Hostgator. We are currently using two of their plans for our various websites (more than 40 now). You can start for less than $10 monthly with some of their packages if you pay a year in advance. We have gone a year at a time with no downtime, so they are very reliable.

However, if you are new to the internet or to making a website, and you really don't know where to start, you might like a service that makes it easy. It costs a bit more, but one of the best is Site Build It. Be sure to take advantage of their forums once you subscribe. There are people with experience there that are very helpful.

Affiliate guidance : Chris Rempel reveals some of his most effective affiliate marketing and niche-targeting tactics in: Confessions of a Lazy Super-Affiliate. I've made money using the advice in his e-book.

Affiliate Products : There are thousands. My best returns have been with MyHelpHub Affiliate Program.

HTML Help : Every HTML document contains certain standard HTML tags. If you don't even know what an HTML tag is, start with great tutorials here: www.htmlgoodies.com. Also, you can teach yourself a lot, by going to the view button up on your browser, then clicking on "source," or "source code" or "view source." You'll see the HTML for whatever page you are on.

Keyword research : Your pages need to target keywords that people are searching. There are some free keyword research tools online, but these are changing constantly. Google also has keyword tools that might be available free or for those who open an AdWords account (a $5 one-time fee last time I checked).

Free content : EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com both have a wide selection of articles you can use for free for your website.

Auto responder : You'll want this eventually, if you aren't already using one. There's nothing neater than your newsletter going out automatically to your subscribers. The best service? Right here: Aweber.

Web site testing : To check your pages for free, to see what HTML mistakes you made, and how fast the page loads, go to : Net Mechanic.

Internet Glossary : Not sure what a term means? Go here.
